The X1 is a 106mm square that has to disappear into a living room. Getting that right took eleven physical prototypes, and the eleventh differs from the first mostly in details nobody consciously notices.
You would work alongside the hardware team from the first sketch, because the constraint that matters most is where the heat goes.
What you would do
- Own the form, surface finish and packaging of the next product in the range.
- Build and evaluate physical prototypes — we print and mill in-house.
- Work with the hardware team on thermal and antenna constraints from the beginning.
- Specify tooling with the manufacturer and review first shots.
- Keep the design language coherent across a growing family of products.
What we are looking for
- A portfolio of consumer products that reached production, with your specific contribution described.
- Fluency in CAD and in the realities of injection moulding.
- An eye for restraint. The brief is Scandinavian, not decorative.
Nice to have, genuinely optional
- Experience designing for RF transparency.
- Packaging and unboxing design experience.
