Android Platform Engineer

Our platform team maintains the Android build that ships on every OSM box, plus the over-the-air update pipeline behind it. The measure of success is that nobody ever thinks about it.
This role is genuinely remote-friendly within the EU — two of the five people on the team work outside Denmark, and we plan the week around that rather than treating it as an exception.
What you would do
- Maintain the AOSP-based build and the vendor BSP, including kernel and driver patches.
- Own the OTA pipeline: staged rollouts, rollback, and the metrics that decide whether to continue.
- Profile and fix performance regressions — cold app launch, HDR mode switching, memory pressure.
- Land monthly security patches without breaking the streaming apps people actually use.
- Write the diagnostics that let support resolve a fault without a return.
What we are looking for
- Three or more years working below the app layer on Android: AOSP, HALs, SELinux, init.
- Confident in C, C++ and Java or Kotlin, and comfortable reading kernel code.
- Experience with an OTA system in production, including what happens when one goes wrong.
- A bias toward measuring before changing.
Nice to have, genuinely optional
- Experience with Android TV specifically, including the Play Store certification process.
- Video pipeline knowledge: HDR metadata, HDCP, audio passthrough.
