The premise
Televisions Got Smart.
They Did Not Get Good.
Every television sold today runs software. Most of it is slow within two years, stops receiving updates within three, and was chosen by whoever paid the manufacturer the most rather than by anyone who watches television.
A separate box fixes that permanently. It costs a fraction of a new television, it can be replaced on its own, and it can be kept fast by a company whose entire business is keeping it fast.
That is the whole idea behind OSM. The engineering is in making a box that is quick on day one and still quick on day one thousand — which is a question of memory, thermals and software discipline far more than of headline specifications.

One product family, done properly
Four tiers of one box. No accessories nobody asked for, no second category to dilute the first. Everything we know goes into the same object.
Say what it does, and what it does not
Our spec sheets are written to be checked. Where a claim depends on your television or your network, we say so on the page rather than in a footnote.
Support sits with engineering
The people answering email are ten metres from the people who designed the board. A fault reported on Monday can be a firmware fix by Friday.
Design that disappears
A streaming box should be the least interesting object under your television. Matte, square, quiet, and the same size as the thing it replaced.
Repair before replace
Returned units are refurbished and re-tested, not landfilled. Spare remotes and adapters are stocked for the full warranty term and beyond.
Small on purpose
Thirty-eight people across three offices. Small enough that a decision has a name attached to it, and that the name is easy to find.
