Free up storage
Where the space goes, and how to add more with a microSD card or USB drive.
1 minute read
01Find what is using the space
Open Settings, then Storage. The breakdown lists apps by size, including their downloaded content — which is usually the real culprit rather than the apps themselves.
- Delete downloaded episodes and films you have already watched. Offline libraries grow quietly.
- Clear the cache of your two or three most-used apps. This does not sign you out.
- Uninstall apps you tried once. Everything reinstalls from Play in a minute.
02Adding storage
The microSD slot and the USB 3.0 port both take extra storage. A card can be formatted as removable storage for media files, or as internal storage so apps can install to it.
Formatting a card as internal storage erases it and ties it to that specific box. It will not be readable in a computer or another OSM X1 afterwards.
