Remote & Accessories

Pair or re-pair the voice remote

What to do when the remote stops responding, or you have bought a second one.

01Pairing over Bluetooth

The remote ships paired. It only needs pairing again if it has been used with another box, if the batteries were out for a long time, or after a factory reset.

  1. 1Stand within a metre of the OSM X1.
  2. 2Hold the Home and Back buttons together for about five seconds, until the LED on the remote flashes.
  3. 3Wait for the on-screen confirmation. Pairing usually completes in under ten seconds.
  4. 4If nothing happens, fit fresh batteries and try again — a remote with weak batteries will send infrared but not Bluetooth.

02Teaching it your television's buttons

The IR learning function lets the OSM X1 remote control your television's power and volume, so you can put the other remote in a drawer.

  1. 1Open Settings, then Remote & Accessories, then IR Learning.
  2. 2Choose the function to teach — power, volume up, volume down, or input.
  3. 3Hold your television remote head-to-head with the OSM X1 remote, about three centimetres apart.
  4. 4Press and hold the matching button on the television remote until the screen confirms the code was captured.

Learned codes survive a software update but not a factory reset. If you reset the box, teach the buttons again.
